Product Description

The best-selling nursing drug handbook for 30 years is now in its fully updated 2010 edition. Organized by therapeutic class, Nursing2010 Drug Handbook provides quick access to current, accurate information on over 900 generic and 3,000 brand-name drugs. This edition includes black box warnings where appropriate, an expanded combination drug section, vaccine immunization schedules, and more than 1,350 additions, changes, and updates on indications, dosages, and administration.

The monographs are consistently formatted for ease of use, and they focus on the practical information that practicing nurses need. Each monograph consists of generic and trade names, pronunciation key, pregnancy risk category, pharmacologic class, controlled substance schedule (if applicable), available forms, indications and dosages, administration (with drug incompatibilities for I.V. drugs), action (including tables showing route, onset, peak, duration, and half-life), adverse reactions, interactions, effects on lab test results, contraindications, nursing considerations, and patient teaching.

A companion Web Toolkit will include FDA warnings, new drug and herb updates, medication administration and safety videos, dosage calculators, patient teaching aids, pharmacology animations, English-Spanish audio medical phrases, NCLEX®-style questions, and CE activity.

This is an excellent updated drug handbook. It has lots of little extras in it too. A must have for every clinic. This one is used in a camp nurses clinic.

5 out of 5 stars Nursing Drug Book 2010 revew   June 20, 2010
Ms Catherine (Boynton Beach, Fl, US)
I didn't think I really needed a drug book at this late date but I couldn't find everything I needed in one place. I thought the book was very useful and up to date and it was half price.

4 out of 5 stars great product, ???shipping   June 13, 2010

The book came in new condition and was individually wrapped. What was a bit frustrating was it was sent USPS with a tracking number. The tracking number with the post office tells you when it was shipped, when to expect it, and when delivered if you request that. You cannot determine when ordering what the expected delivery date was going to be. I had a deadline (5-19) and it was needed by that date due to an inspection. The expected delivery date was between 5-19 and 6-2. I had to trust it would be received on time or go and buy it the date needed at a local bookstore, that made it a bit stressful. I don't keep these on hand for my clients because the 2011 version will be out in a few months. I might be more helpful in the future if an approximate date be shown when ordered instead of after the fact.
